The season that was
It wasn't the ending anyone wanted, but this group gave Cougar fans plenty to cheer about in year one under Head Coach Chase Floyd: a 41–14 win at Newport Central Catholic for Coach Floyd's first victory, 55 points at Boone County, a 42–0 shutout at Scott, and a 54–29 Senior Night win over Henry Clay that sent Conner into the playoffs.
Looking ahead to 2027
There's a lot to build on. 48 of the 58 players on this year's varsity roster are eligible to return, including both juniors in the backfield: running back #5 Jasiah Lampkin, who ran for 1,129 yards and 11 touchdowns in the regular season, seventh in Class 5A, and quarterback #15 Ethan Estvanko, who accounted for 22 touchdowns (9 passing, 13 rushing). Sophomore receiver #1 EJ Barney is eligible to return too, after leading the team with 40 catches for 502 yards.
And the next wave is winning. The freshman Cougars finished 5–4, their first winning season since 2018 according to MaxPreps, and went unbeaten in the district, including a 32–0 shutout of Cooper and a one-point win over Dixie Heights. The JV went 4–3. Year two under Coach Floyd starts in the weight room this winter.
Thank you, Class of 2027
